Cody Johnson Wins Coveted Album of The Year for Leather at 58th Annual CMA Awards

It’s been a banner year for multi-platinum artist Cody Johnson who took home the coveted Album of The Year award for Leather at last night’s 58Th Annual CMA Awards. Cody went into the night as the second most nominated artist with five. The win brings his career CMA award total to three after winning Video of The Year and Single of the Year for his multi-week No. 1 hit “‘Til You Can’t” at the 2022 CMA Awards.

Cody’s remarkable night included a performance of his current single “I’m Gonna Love You” with Carrie Underwood bringing the crowd to their feet. Fans can catch the amazing vocal performance on the “58th Annual CMA Awards” on Hulu today.

Yesterday both Rolling Stone and the Tennessean ran features on Cody about the newly released Leather Deluxe Edition album and his long-term yet laser focused path to this point in his career. The CMA Album of The Year winning Leather received rave reviews from media from the onset of its release in 2023 – (and his Leather Deluxe Edition has continued that praise.) Reviewers have claimed the album from the “undeniably authentic” Cody: The “Human” singer captured that same unapologetic storytelling throughout the remainder of the record and even on the cover photo. While Johnson has always waved the country flag, he dove in even deeper with the production on "Leather," wanting his country music to ‘look, feel, sound, smell, and taste like country music’.

Cody Johnson has a way of captivating his fans with his heartfelt delivery and powerful, rugged vocals. His ability to get a crowd fired up and also draw them in for a sentimental ballad is unmatched.

The album includes a collection of songs that all highlight Johnson’s beloved authentic Texas vocals and loyalty to the traditional Country sound.

This well-rounded album stays true to the roots of country music and makes classic country fans proud. Early this month Cody played his first-ever headline stadium concert for 40,643 fans at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. To announce the tour date Cody attended batting practice and threw out the ceremonial first pitch at a home Texas Rangers game this spring and returned to the field to perform the National Anthem at the 2024 MLB All-Star Game in July. He will wrap his “Leather Tour” with a double show at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas on December 12 and 13.
